For Equitable Plan Members and Eligible Dependants
Through Personalized Prescribing Inc., Equitable offers pharmacogenomic testing for group benefits plan members who have been diagnosed with a mental health condition. Eligible dependants can also access the service.
What is a pharmacogenomic test?
A pharmacogenomic test determines how your body is expected to respond to certain drugs.
How can a pharmacogenomic test help me?
Patients with mental health conditions often try several drugs before they find one that works for them. This can lead to negative side effects or a delayed recovery. A pharmacogenomic test can help avoid this treatment trial and error.
You will receive an RX ReportTM that you can share with your doctor within 7 to 10 business days of submitting your test. The report will include details to help your doctor prescribe the right drug and dose for you.
Your test results are completely confidential. Neither your employer nor Equitable will receive a copy of the report.
How much does a pharmacogenomic test cost?
Equitable plan members and eligible dependants, who have received a mental health condition diagnosis, can purchase a test for a discounted price of $439 plus HST.
If your employer provides pharmacogenomic testing through your Equitable benefits plan, you may be eligible to have some, or all of the testing cost reimbursed. Check your group benefits booklet to confirm your coverage.
Health-care spending accounts (HCSAs) can also cover the costs of pharmacogenomic testing.
Do patients have to pay for the shipment?
No, the shipment charge is included in the purchase.
How long does the test analysis take?
It takes 7 – 10 business days to complete the analysis after we receive the swab sample at our laboratory.
